Event Description: On July 27th the entire world will turn attention to a spectacle that has captivated audiences for centuries. On Saturday June 30th, youth and families in the Great Lakes Bay Region will get a taste of what the Olympics are all about. This free event, Olympic Day, will showcase some of the regions past Olympians, and will offer events, games and prizes to all members of the community.

The YMCA of Saginaw and the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA- leading nonprofits that strengthen community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility- offer an exciting array of activities and competition, a day that is sure to be fun for the entire family. The event will be held at Saginaw Valley State University in the Ryder Center from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Separate afternoon activities will be held at each YMCA location, both in Bay City and Saginaw. Games, camps, adventure and summer fun will be held at each YMCA from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

”The YMCA movement is responsible for the creation of several sports historically including basketball, volleyball, and racquetball. Many Olympians got their start at a YMCA”. Said Steve Meyer, Interim CEO at the YMCA of Saginaw. “It is fitting for us to lead and offer this exciting fun theme day for the families of our region as we continue our commitment to strengthening families and providing youth development and healthy living opportunities”.

The YMCA of Saginaw is located at 1915 Fordney St and the Dow Bay Area Family Y at 225 Washington Ave. Each location will be hosting a site-specific event from 1:00 – 3:00 pm with more games and activities.

Don’t miss out on a free, exciting event that will be enjoyed by families in the Great Lakes Bay Region. For more information on the YMCA and its programs, please call (989)753-7721 or visit or find us on Facebook at
