10 :00 a.m. What Does the Future of Health Care Look Like?
Presenter: Spence Maidlow, President & CEO, Covenant HealthCare System
The Affordable Care Act, also known as health care reform, has a lot of people asking questions. One of the questions Spence Maidlow frequently receives is how health care reform will impact hospitals in Michigan and across the United States. Maidlow is President & CEO of Covenant HealthCare System, Saginaw County’s largest employer with more than 4,200 employees and more than 500 physicians on the active medical staff. Collectively, the nonprofit hospital cares for patients from more than 40 counties in Michigan. Maidlow has served in his current role since 1998 when he accomplished the successful merger of three acute care hospitals. Prior to 1998, he was the President and CEO of St. Luke’s Hospital and HealthCare Corporation in Saginaw. In this unique presentation, you will hear firsthand information on what Covenant HealthCare is (and is not) doing in preparation for health care reform.
