Q: What year did you begin working at your company?
A: 2018
Q: When year did you join the YPN Steering Committee?
A: 2022
Q: What motivated you to join the YPN Steering Committee?
A: Before serving on the Steering Committee I served on a subcommittee. It was a wonderful experience where I got to dip my toes into the planning process of YPN events. When applications opened up for the Steering Committee a current member approached me and encouraged me to apply. The rest is history!
Q: What YPN event do you look forward to the most and why?
A: I always look forward to YPN Gives Back: Shoebox Saginaw. During this event members of the YPN fill shoeboxes with personal care items for women in need during the holiday season. Not only is it a very meaningful way to give back to the community, but I have an absolute blast organizing the supplies before everyone arrives!
Q: What’s your favorite way to build meaningful connections at YPN events—before, during, or after the event?
A: I enjoy getting to know other Young Professionals on a deeper level outside of events. My favorite way to do this is over a coffee meeting where I can ask more personal questions about their careers, personal lives, and goals. It’s always great to say, “Hey, I know someone who can help with that! Let me connect you with them.”
Q: How do you hope someone feels after attending their first YPN event?
A: My hope that after someone walks away from their first networking event they feel optimistic! I want a new attendee to feel comfortable coming back to a future event while feeling assured they can continue to make strong personal and professional relationships in the future.
Q: What’s one professional skill you’ve strengthened through your involvement with YPN?
A: Through the YPN I’ve gained confidence in networking. Although it may not seem like it, I can get very apprehensive walking into a new situation, or into a room of people I don’t know. By practicing my networking skills with other young professionals in the region, I have more confidence walking into a Saginaw Chamber event and networking with others who are further along (or more experienced) in their careers.
Q: What’s one moment during your time with YPN that made you feel especially connected to the group or the community?
A: After going to a few YPN events, I walked into a Business After Hours and immediately heard people greeting me by name. Some even asked about a project I’d mentioned weeks earlier. It was a simple moment, but it really stuck with me—it felt good to feel genuinely welcomed and remembered.
Q: What’s one habit or mindset that helps you balance career growth with community involvement?
A: Being involved in my community helps me stay aware of real needs and perspectives beyond my own career ambitions. It reminds me that the work I’m doing isn’t just about personal success or advancement, but about contributing something meaningful to others. That sense of connection helps me make career decisions that align with my values. As a result, my professional goals feel more purposeful, because they’re guided by the impact I want to have, not just the position I want to reach.
Q: What’s something outside of work that brings you energy or inspiration and helps you show up as a better leader?
A: As a new mom I can confidently say that motherhood has added a new layer of perspective to my leadership and how I show up for my community. I try to lead with empathy, intention, and purpose in all aspects of my life.
Q: What’s a hidden gem in Saginaw County you enjoy recommending to other young professionals?
A: Peter and Chia’s is a Thai and Chinese restaurant located on Bay Road in Saginaw Township. Not only is the food phenomenal, but dining there also means supporting a local, family-owned business. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re treated like part of the family, which makes every visit feel special. It’s our go-to spot for hosting out-of-town guests—we always love sharing their delicious cuisine!
Q: If your life had a theme song right now, what would it be and why?
A: Ready For It? By Taylor Swift. I have always been a Swiftie and this is one of my go to pump up songs. Its high energy reminds me that I’m here, I’m capable, and I’m ready to handle anything being thrown my way.
