Q: When did you begin working at your company?
A: I started working at Tri-Star Trust in November 2018.
Q: When did you become a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I have been a Chamber Ambassador since January 2022.
Q: What motivated you to become an Ambassador?
A: I enjoy networking on both a personal and professional level. It allows me to connect with people I wouldn’t normally see or run into throughout my typical business day.
Q: What’s the most memorable connection you’ve made as a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I have made several memorable connections over the years. My most memorable are the ones where I have reconnected with someone I used to work with or go to school with years ago. Not only do we make new connections at the Chamber events, but they provide the opportunity to reconnect with those you may not have had the chance to elsewhere.
Q: What Chamber event do you look forward to the most and why?
A: I would have to say the golf outing in June. In the past few years, I have been golfing more, and I enjoy speaking to all the players and picking up some helpful hints throughout the day. I also like how it brings our Ambassador teams together in an outdoor setting. We really get to know each other more during the event.
Q: What’s one networking tip you’d share with new Chamber members?
A: It is very easy to socialize with people you know. To broaden your network, you have to reach out to those you don’t know, which isn’t easy for everyone. So, I encourage all new Chamber members to go up to at least one person you do not know at every event you attend (Percolator Breakfast, Business After Hours). And then have that person introduce you to one person you don’t know. Your circle will grow pretty quickly without putting too much pressure on yourself.
Q: Tell us one fun fact about you that might surprise people.
A: My legal name is Becky, not Rebecca. Most people assume it is Rebecca.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was at Arby’s when I was 15 years old. I was paid less than minimum wage and my mom had to come to the interview with me.
Q: What was your dream job as a child, and how does it compare to what you’re doing now?
A: I didn’t really have a dream job as a child. I did play school all the time, even in the summer so my mom always thought I would end up being a teacher. Maybe in retirement.
Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
A: My friends and I try to take new adventures every year. Several of the most exciting and/or challenging things we have done are indoor skydiving, indoor rock climbing, the Warrior Dash, and the Crucible. We like to try new things, but don’t want anything too dangerous (not at our age, LOL!).
Q: What inspires or motivates you to keep giving back to the community?
A: I have lived in Saginaw the majority of my life and I want the community where I work, live, and play to be the best it can be. I enjoy making a difference in the lives of others.
