Meet Andrew Patton
Q: When did you begin working at your company?
A: I started my business in May of 2024.
Q: When did you become a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I became a Chamber Ambassador in 2023 with my previous employer.
Q: What motivated you to become an Ambassador?
A: A Chamber Ambassador (shoutout to Thor Rasmussen!) was the one that introduced me to the Saginaw County Chamber, invited me to my first Perc Breakfast, and I got to know many more over the next year. I became an Ambassador for the increased networking opportunities, and as a chance to pay it forward and help other new members feel welcome.
Q: What’s the most memorable connection you’ve made as a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I think my most memorable connection would be all the genuine friendships I have made with other Chamber Ambassadors. When I was going through a rather difficult transition last year, my Chamber friends really helped me weather through it, as well as helping me get my tech support business off the ground with tips and referrals and more encouragement.
Q: What Chamber event do you look forward to the most and why?
A: I’d probably have to say the Chairman’s Ball….and setting up for the Chairman’s Ball. The event itself is classy and fun, and getting to spend a day working alongside other Ambassadors and staff to make it happen is always fun too. (Yes, Sam thinks I am crazy for thinking it’s fun. Maybe he’s right.)
Q: What’s one networking tip you’d share with new Chamber members?
A: My biggest tip is to just be consistent. Come to every single Chamber event that you can. Make yourself known, and with time, you’ll make some really solid connections. Don’t feel bad if you don’t have dozens of sales leads or new prospects after your first Perc Breakfast. It’s about building relationships.
Q: Tell us one fun fact about you that might surprise people.
A: I run a weekly online “tabletop style” Star Trek roleplay campaign with 10-15 players from all over the world. One of the highlights of 2024 was meeting some of the online friends I’ve RP’ed with for years at an event in New York. It felt like a family reunion.
Q: What was your first job?
A: I worked as a package handler loading FedEx trucks. That was probably the most in shape I’ve been in my life.
Q: What was your dream job as a child, and how does it compare to what you’re doing now?
A: I was a little ADHD kid with a crazy imagination…so I didn’t have just one. I wanted to be Batman, a detective, a spy, an astronaut, a fighter pilot, and probably dozens more things. That has developed into a creative spirit, outside the box thinking, and desire to help people with my first major career in marketing and event planning, and even now as a business owner in the tech support field, the same drive keeps me going.
Plus, kid me would be thrilled that I get to play a starship captain every week, and that I got to walk on the recreated set of the original Enterprise. Don’t let your dreams be dreams!
Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
A: That would probably be sleeping under the stars in Zion National Park, then hiking up the narrows the next day. It was such a beautiful experience, and I really want to go back.
Q: What inspires or motivates you to keep giving back to the community?
A: The biggest driver of my desire to give back and help others is my faith in Christ. His example teaches me to love without expecting anything in return, and to be generous with my time, abilities, and money. It’s amazing how much good a little kindness can do when the world around us seems so crazy.
