Q: What year did you begin working at your company?
A: January 2020
Q: When year did you join the YPN Steering Committee?
A: January 2025
Q: What motivated you to join the YPN Steering Committee?
A: I had been involved with Yeo & Yeo’s internal Young Professionals group – including service time as President. Serving in this role motivated me to join the YPN Steering Committee. The YPN group does great things in the community, and I wanted to be able to bring my experience to the group to serve the community & young professionals of Saginaw County.
Q: What YPN event do you look forward to the most and why?
A: It used to be the Golf Outing, but after attending last year’s CEO Mixer my answer has changed. While the CEO Mixer may not be every year, it is a great opportunity to meet the established individuals that are making a difference in our community.
Q: What’s your favorite way to build meaningful connections at YPN events—before, during, or after the event?
A: Before the event – invite someone that I had met at a prior event. During the event – force myself to talk to at least 3 new people. After the event – make a connection on LinkedIn with one of the people I met at the event and try to schedule a follow up.
Q: How do you hope someone feels after attending their first YPN event?
A: Encouraged. To come to another event & try and form a relationship with someone they just met. Coming to your first event can be a little nerve wracking for some, but I am hopeful that feeling will go away once they are there.
Q: What’s one professional skill you’ve strengthened through your involvement with YPN?
A: Interpersonal skills. Being part of the YPN “forced” me to be comfortable with meeting new people & encouraged me to put in the effort to foster new relationships.
Q: What’s one moment during your time with YPN that made you feel especially connected to the group or the community?
A: Through the Impact Designs event with the Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan back in September 2022.
Q: What’s one habit or mindset that helps you balance career growth with community involvement?
A: I try to keep the mindset that individual success comes as a byproduct of doing the “right” thing/putting others first. If you do these things solely with the intent of putting yourself ahead, then you are doing it for the wrong reasons & will never have the feeling of fulfillment.
Q: What’s something outside of work that brings you energy or inspiration and helps you show up as a better leader?
A: Taking time for myself. While it is important, and necessary, to be there for others, it can also take a toll on you if you are not making time for yourself.
Q: What’s a hidden gem in Saginaw County you enjoy recommending to other young professionals?
A: Not sure if it is necessarily a “hidden gem” since they have been open since 2011, but Fralia’s in Old Town Saginaw is a great lunch spot. I recommend the Grilled Flank Steak!
Q: If your life had a theme song right now, what would it be and why?
A: All Star by Smash Mouth. These lyrics specifically, “My world's on fire, how 'bout yours? That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored” – Life is pretty hectic, especially in my career, but I have learned to embrace the “crazy”.
