Q: How long have you been with your company?
A: I started with Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! In February 2005.
Q: How long have you been a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I became a Chamber Ambassador in January 2018.
Q: What do you like about being an ambassador?
A: The best thing about being an ambassador is sharing all the exciting resources in our region. I’ve had the opportunity to network with so many fantastic people and organizations. Building long-lasting relationships with our business partners is rewarding.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I am from the Thumb, grew up in Cass City and currently live in Caro. I’ve been married to my polar opposite husband and love of my life Ralph since July 2002 and we enjoy raising our charismatic son Noah, born in 2011. I also have a grown bonus daughter Nicole. After graduating from CCHS, I went to Baker College in Flint and earned my Bachelor Degree in Business Management/Marketing. After graduating from college I spent 8 years working as a Softlines Manager for multiple K-Marts throughout the state. I accepted a position with Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! in 2005, forming the newly created Business Services Team. It’s been a very rewarding career. I enjoy volunteering my time with children in our church children’s ministry, t-ball and youth soccer.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was at Sommers Bakery and Restaurant in Cass City when I was 16 years old. It was a great family owned business; they taught me the importance of a great work ethic. Plus, I couldn’t have my cute little red Dodge Charger without a job.
Q: What worries keep you up at night?
A: I don’t mean to sound sappy, but truly, thinking and praying for others who are hurting. We all go through tough times. When faced with the loss of loved ones and health issues, I find showing compassion is a blessing. “Bless and be blessed.”
Q: What is your greatest achievement?
A: My 6 year old son Noah. He’s my world. He will probably grow up to be a preacher or politician.
Q: What is your most prized possession?
A: I love pictures! They are our memory keepers.
Q: What is something unique in your office?
A: A blow up Icee Penguin showed up in my office one day out of the blue. He continues to sit annoyingly on my file cabinet, smiling away at me. Taunting me I think. Luckily for him, I’ve not been stressed out enough to punch him yet.
Q: What is your favorite Michigan travel location?
A: Where ever there is a dirt track. We love to take our camper and spend the weekend with family at Tri City Motor Speedway, Crystal Motor Speedway, Merritt Speedway, Mid-Michigan Raceway Park, Mount Pleasant Speedway and others.
