Leadership Opportunities
The Young Professionals Network is a program of the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce. Led by the Program Director, the YPN committees provide insight and input for YPN programming and events. Following are a few opportunities for you to get involved.
YPN Steering Committee
Members of the Steering Committee meet monthly to discuss the status of the YPN, guide decisions on the future of the program and work toward the growth and improvement of the YPN and young professionals in Saginaw County and the Great Lakes Bay Region. Diversity and differing professionals with a variety of experiences are encouraged to apply and serve as a YPN steering committee member.
The only prerequisites to serve on the YPN Steering Committee is that a steering committee member must be a current member of the YPN and must be employed by a Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce member business in good standing.
The YPN accepts applications all year long, but the sitting YPN steering committee and nominating committee reviews new applications each November for consideration and approval of new members to join the steering committee based on vacancy(s) and as deemed appropriate.

YPN members need not be a member of the steering committee to serve on a Program committee. Program committees are made-up of both steering committee members and general YPN members.
Similarly, to the steering committee, diversity and differing professionals with a variety of experiences are encouraged to apply to join a program committee.
Program committees are a great way to become more involved in the YPN -- to become familiar with its innerworkings, planning and operations, and to hone personal leadership skills while contributing to the betterment of the YPN.
If desired, program committees can be a great conduit to potentially serve on the Steering Committee.

- Event: Plan and execute events in support of the mission of the Saginaw County Young Professionals Network membership. These may include professional development, community service, and social network building events among others.
- Marketing: Plan and coordinate promotional and public relations strategies to increase awareness and active participation in the Saginaw County Young Professionals Network.
- Welcome: Create a welcoming environment for new YPN members with the goal of fostering their active participation and retaining their membership in the program.
