Q: How long have you been with your company?
A: I started with Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! in February 2005, leading the Business Services Team since 2018.
Q: How long have you been a Chamber Ambassador?
A: I became a Chamber Ambassador in January 2018, was very proud to be Ambassador Chair in 2021
Q: What do you like about being an ambassador?
A: What I like most about being an ambassador is reaching out to those who come for the first time, making sure they feel welcomed. I love the mentorship and comradery of this current group of ambassadors as well.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I’m from the Thumb. Grew up in Cass City and now live in Caro with my husband of 20 years, 10-year-old son and dogs (2 year-old sister labs) Oakie (chocolate) and Mabel (charcoal). I also have a 27-year-old bonus daughter. I have a Bachelors degree in Marketing/Management.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was de-tasseling corn when I was 14 years old. I started working in a long time family owned bakery/restaurant while in high school. Hudson's (now Macy’s) through college then Kmart Management for the first 8 years out of college.
Q: What worries keep you up at night?
A: The aches and pains of getting older keep me up at night. Usually Charlie Horses, lol.
Q: What is your greatest achievement?
A: Professionally, I am most proud of my Business Services Team at Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!. They all have impeccable work ethic but like to have fun and enjoy their work. It wasn’t always that way. It took some time to build trust and confidence. I love my job and the people I work with.
Q: What is your most prized possession?
A: My most prized possession is my grandmother's wedding ring. My aunt gave it to me to pass to my son before she passed away. My aunt and my son had a special bond so it’s pretty sentimental to me.
Q: What is something unique in your office?
A: I usually have twinkling seasonal lights hanging in my office. I currently have flowers that light up. There’s also a quote I keep that says, “Ships don’t sink because of the water around them, ships sink because of the water that gets IN them!”
Q: What is your favorite Michigan travel location?
A: My favorite Michigan travel spots are at any dirt track motorsports locations my family is racing at. Tri City Motor Speedway, Merritt Motor Speedway, Mt. Pleasant Motor Speedway, Crystal Motor Speedway, MidMichigan Raceway Park to name a few. We like to take our campers to the track, park primitively with a generator hook up.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: In my spare time I like to camp, watch movies and take naps.
