Q: How long have you been with STT Security Services?
A: I began working with STT during college as a part time security officer back in 2006. After graduating from CMU in 2009, I joined STT’s corporate management team with a focus in marketing and sales. I’ve been with the company ever since.
Q: How long have you been a Chamber Ambassador?
A: Thanks to email and the search feature I can answer that question quite spot on, since December of 2014 (I don’t know what I’d do without the “search” feature.)
Q: What do you like about being an ambassador?
A: Becoming an Ambassador has allowed me to make professional and personal relationships I would have never made otherwise. I also enjoy that it allows me to serve the business community here in the Great Lakes Bay Region by spreading the word on all of the great benefits our Chamber has to offer and help the community. The Chamber’s membership and leadership truly care about Saginaw and do amazing things to help support its future. Knowledge and exposure to all of the good things going on in the area that you don’t always hear of is especially great to be around.
Q: Tell us something about yourself.
A: I am the third generation of my family to be born and raised in Saginaw County. My Great Grandparents, on both sides, came to this area to make a better life for them and their families during Saginaw’s boom of growth at the turn of the 19th century. Today, many of my family members have since left this area to seek opportunities elsewhere. I didn’t envision retuning home after getting my degree from Central Michigan University but life brought me back. Since moving back to Saginaw in 2009, I’ve realized what a truly good community we have, despite our challenges, and truly enjoy calling it home. I’ve since bought and renovated a home in Shields where I grew up. I enjoy being close to my mother (teacher at Saginaw High), my sister (nurse at Covenant) and my Grandfather (retired GM and Twilight Drive-In of 40 years) and several other cousins, aunts and uncles who all still reside in the area.
Q: What was your first job?
A: I began working as a charter fishing boat first mate at the age of 15. I spent my summers on the back deck of a 40’ boat in Lake Michigan, rigging lines, tangling a lot of them for a long time and eventually getting pretty good at getting salmon on the line for our customers to reel in. The days got long and tiresome at times, but I cannot imagine a better first job.
Q: What keeps you up at night?
A: Sometimes a project or idea will have my wheels turning too much to fall asleep, but most of the time I am tired enough after my days I have no issue.
Q: What is your greatest achievement?
A: I’ve played a pretty large role in the overall success of our business and getting to where we are today since I joined in 2009. It’s rewarding to look back and truly know your efforts have made a great impact on something you’ve put a lot of yourself into.
Q: What is your most prized possession?
A: Well, I guess he’s not really what I should consider a “possession” but I do own him, my two year old Rottweiler, Buckey.
Q: What is something unique in your office?
A: A framed mountain landscape of one of my favorite places, the Cherohala Skyway in Tennessee. I go annually to ride my motorcycle with friends in that area and absolutely love it.
Q: What is your favorite Michigan travel location?
A: I love being on the water, the big lakes or inland. As long as I am in, on or around the water I am a happy camper.
