Despite the state legislature’s recent agreement to fund roads and bridges, the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce believes it must remain engaged and lead where possible on transportation infrastructure issues.
Priorities for 2017/18 include direct leadership involvement with the County of Saginaw and the US Army Corp of Engineers as it conducts the Saginaw River Deep Water Port Study and ensuring that Saginaw County receives a proportionate share of appropriations for road and bridge infrastructure. We will also support the GLBRA and the Midland, Bay, Saginaw International Airport (MBS) in its efforts to secure another carrier and improve access to MBS.
We support funding efforts for the Saginaw River Deep Water Port Study on the local, state and federal levels of government.
We support setting local (Saginaw County) priorities on repairing and maintaining local roads and infrastructure.
We support working with MDOT and the Saginaw County Road Commission to prioritize roads and infrastructure in Saginaw County with local input.
